With the generous support of the Pritzker Children’s Initiative, we're working to improve the health and development of California's infants and toddlers. Our aim is to close disparities in preterm births and negative birth outcomes; increase the number of infants and toddlers who receive essential health services and supports; and ensure infants and toddlers with developmental delays and behavioral concerns are served by high-quality, seamless systems of care.

To better understand First 5s’ family engagement efforts, First 5 Center for Children’s Policy conducted a two-part qualitative research project involving interviews with local First 5s. This brief includes a description of the project’s methodology and findings, as well as lessons learned to support authentic, equity-centered engagement with families.
